We are very lucky to work with some of the most beautiful venues in Scotland and the North of England and one of our favourites is Wedderburn Castle and Barns just outside Duns in the Scottish Borders. Wedderburn Castle was built between 1771-1775 by the famous Adam brother’s Robert and James Adam who were neoclassical architects and started a fashion for this type of traditional building with many followers copying the “Adam Style” but Wedderburn Castle is the genuine article. The Castle is home to the aptly named Home family and it is a long held tradition that when the daughters marry they keep the surname Home in their name so the current owner is David Home Miller who inherited the castle from his mother Georgina Home Robertson. With his wife, David has created an exclusive venue at Wedderburn for house parties, private celebrations, corporate events and of course weddings. Civil, Church of Scotland and humanist ceremonies can be held on the castle lawns or in the ballroom suitable for 92 guests or for a smaller intimate wedding the dining room can sit 48 guests. Or if you are looking for something larger a relatively new addition to the Wedderburn portfolio is Wedderburn Barns with Provender Barn where 150 guests can dine comfortably on wooden banquet chairs around rectangular trestle tables. Guests can then move on to the Cart Shed with its five glazed arches opening fully on to the courtyard garden which is ideal for live bands, DJ’s, ceilidhs to allow for dancing and entertainment and has a fully licensed bar. You could say there is something for every bride at Wedderburn all set in the backdrop of this magnificent Adams Castle.
